Gender Balance
Ritual
March is Gender
Equality Month. Throughout history, the war between the sexes has created a lot
of casualties. Although some of the worst inequities have been addressed,
domestic violence and sexual assault still haunt our society.
With Proposition 8 rearing its ugly, bigoted head over
California, a reader writes in, "I'm new to the Pagan community, and it
seems to me that there are a lot of gay and polyamorous Pagans and Wiccans,
which is refreshing. I'm wondering is there some sort of "official Pagan stance"
on gay marriage?"

Hello and Merry Meet to all of you, One of the groups that I belong to on Yahoo.com has started a petition to ask Dictionary.com to remove their definition of witchcraft from the warty, evil, ugly old woman that is on there now to one that truly reflects our spiritual practices and beliefs.

I've taken up photography as a hobby in the last year and have really been strong on Nature photography as a major area of focus. With Fall arriving, I realized that quite a few of my fellow Pagans were also doing great photography and I thought it might be a good idea to sponsor a photography contest with Samhain as the theme!
NEWS: Contest is extended to November 8'th to let people submit their photographs of Samhain events and subject matter!
So... Here are the rules;
Submit up to five (5) photographs related to Samhain to the Media Gallery forum or email them to AJ (aj at iamawitch.com) for the contest (Requires a valid IAmawitch.Com user account). Click the "Options" drop-down and then "Add Media" to upload the photographs. Make sure to identify yourself and any story behind each photo! (Rules changed - Upload as many as you desire, but be sure they are worthy candidates! It is better to pick the best of your best to have the best chance - AJ).
Each photograph must have a title and description along with the name of the author.
Submitted photographs remain your property, but IAmAWitch.com reserves the right to leave the photographs online in our Media Gallery for as long as is desired by our staff.
Final Judging will be done by Lucy and AJ and a prize award of a $25.00 Amazon Gift Certificate will be mailed to the winner as well as a feature article on the winning photographer and a look at their photographic work!

I am pleased to announce that Ancient Cauldron Covenant of Arrianrhod
will be hosting this event, with the support of many other groups
and individuals throughout our Pagan community.
This year we are proud to be bringing the festival back
to its roots, back to its original name and location, and honoring
"Pagan Pride Day". Our main goals being, education, honoring
spiritual diversity and "sharing the abundance of the harvest"
by having both a food drive and a blood drive. The event will begin
with an opening blessing and a magickal procession, which will lead
everyone through the event ending at the main ritual area, where the
opening ritual of blessings and prosperity will take place. There
will be a main Harvest ritual both days, along with other rituals,
a wide variety of presentations, performances, entertainment and much,
much more through the weekend, including several top Pagan authors!
As a non-profit event the proceeds will benefit two non-profit organizations to "share the abundance of the harvest": Operation Homefront and the Lady
Liberty League.
(note that we originally arranged to donate to the Operation Homefront
Sacramento Chapter, this chapter is no longer active in Sacramento,
although we will donate to the Operation Homefront headquarters in Los
Angeles and/or the San Deigo/Camp Pendleton Chapter

LAKEVILLE, MA - There weren’t any, “Kiss me I’m Pagan,” buttons in evidence.
But the Southeastern Massachusetts Pagan Pride Day
at the former Ted Williams Camp Sunday did bring together a varied
celebration of positive paganism mixed with standard community fair
fare.
You could get a slice of pepperoni pizza and follow
that up with having your palm read. There was face painting for the
kids followed by a drum circle and ritual to usher in the autumn
equinox. The medicinal qualities of herbs growing wild in the area – as
well as their anti-hexing qualities – were described next to an outdoor
belly dancing lesson.
The autumn equinox is one of two times during the
year, the other being the spring equinox, when the sun crosses the
earth’s equator making night and day approximately equal in length.
It’s also a time of thanksgiving in many Pagan
traditions, according to information provided by Lisa Butler, local
coordinator for SMPP Day, which she orchestrated from a Raynham office.

deliver a blessing over the grave site of Jan Deanna O'Rourke on
July 4.
Leo Shane III / S&S
O'Rourke's headstone at Arlington National Cemetery and another
nearby are the first to bear the pentacle, a symbol of the Wiccan
faith.
WASHINGTON — The Rev. Selena Fox said Wednesday wasn't the first
time she visited a Wiccan's grave site at Arlington National
Cemetery in Virginia. It was just the first time one was identified
that way.
"This is the first time the Christian cross and Wiccan pentacle have
both been engraved on a tombstone here, and it's great news for us,"
said the senior minister of Circle Sanctuary, a Wisconsin Wiccan
community. "It's recognition we've fought for for so long."

Hoopeston, IL (PRWeb) February 1, 2007 -- In the heart of the Midwest, on February 10th, will bring a rare alignment of the planet Saturn and Witch School will be opening their doors for a special day of teaching and celebration. People from all over will come to ask questions of the teachers of Witch School, and anyone can ask questions at this event.
"People have questions about Wicca and Witchcraft," according to School President Don Lewis. "We have answers that we are willing to share with the public. It is time for people to stop acting out of fear, and to understand that we have a beautiful and complex faith that honors the divine. We are offering this Teach-In to give people a safe way to ask those questions."
