Submission Guidelines
Story Submission Guidelines We require writers who submit stories to follow these basic standards. These are normal journalistic guidelines that any magazine or publication would follow:
Keep the subjects positive and affirming towards giving the Craft the positive press it deserves. We don't post anything to do with negative workings, spells or magickal workings that deny free choice or try to control others, hate content or overtly and angry politics. There are other webs for this sort of thing and we gracefully will direct you to them for content and writing that does not fit our format.
Spell check before submitting the story to us. Write the story using a simple text-only editor and then spell-check the work and proof the grammar before submitting. We have seen some outstanding work and then, more often, the story that did not quite get the treatment before it was submitted to us. We'll fix it if need be, but if you do it before submitting, we'll be much happier and you'll be a better writer for it.
Really *read* the story and see it from the point of the reader. Ask yourself what they will see. Then you'll be better prepared to rewrite the story and improve on it. It is customary to rewrite a story multiple times before it is correct and gets the point across that you intended.
Prepare a reader for what it is you are talking to them about. If it is a ritual, then tell them about why it is a ritual, when it came to be and how it will help them. Use common sense to bring the end user into your world and they will love you for it.
If art work is to be provided, then email the story to us (email Aj or Lucy to arrange for this). Attach the art work and also let us know if this is copyrighted material or original work. We recommend digital photos of original content so there is no question as to ownership.
Read our Terms page to be familiar with the legalities of images and videos which might be posted on our site.
Occasionally, we do get content submitted that just won't work for this site. If we deny a story, it is because it just does not meet our standards. We always encourage new writers who find themselves denied to speak with us to learn *why* we said no and then to help rework the story to a form that will be approved.
Have fun! Writing is an awesome and powerful means of communicating. Know we are here to help you get your message out and we thank you for considering us for your material!
